Kati O’Brien serves as Staples, Inc.'s Senior Vice President of Talent Management. In her current role, she leads six key teams of 50+ individuals responsible for the planning and deploying of overall talent strategies and programs including performance management, top talent reviews, succession planning, employee listening strategies/surveys, executive-level leadership and development programs, Interim Inclusion and Diversity as well as functional and technical training. As SVP, Talent Management Kati builds, supports, and manages new company values and culture as well as strategies for inclusion and diversity.

Kati began her Staples career in 2012 and before her current role, she served Staples, Inc. in six other roles. Kati was responsible for all labor and employment for five years before transitioning to HR after helping to take Staples private. Other notable experiences include managing and leading the COVID governance team for all of Staples and leading the Total Rewards, Talent Acquisition, and all HRBPs for the Company.

Kati has received several notable awards during her time at Staples, Inc. Most recently, she was the recipient of the 2022 Chief Sales Officer Excellence Award.

Prior to joining Staples, Kati served as the Assistant and Deputy General Counsel of Labor and Employment for ABM Industries, Inc., and then as Assistant Counsel of International Trade Compliance for United Technologies Corporation, Pratt & Whitney Division.

Kati holds a B.A. degree from Virginia Tech, a law degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, and completed the Advance Human Resources Executive Program from the University of Michigan, Ross School of Business.
