Empowering Educators: An Award-Winning Online Education Initiative Centered on Strategies for Fostering Mental Health and Wellness

Students tend to be creative, innovative, and open to learning when they feel safe and supported.

The Center for Childhood Resilience (CCR) at Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago has been working towards building resilience in children and youth since 2004. They have achieved this through their REACH (Resilience Education to Advance Community Healing) initiative, which includes a Learning and Resource Hub where innovative and evidence-based learning strategies are employed to promote mental health and wellness.

In this session, Meg O’Rourke, who is a Senior Mental Health Consultant at the Center for Childhood Resilience at Lurie Children’s Hospital, will share her experience on how REACH helps teachers better support their students while focusing on their wellness.

Attendees will learn about the following:

  • How the CCR team utilizes Learning Pool’s Learning Experience Platform (LXP) to support the REACH initiative.
  • How their Learning and Resource Hub is used to reach communities virtually across Illinois.
  • About their Community of Practice (CoP), a virtual opportunity to collaborate and share best practices with peers from across the state.
  • How this collaborative approach brings staff together and strengthens their community.
