Sherita has held numerous roles throughout her 29-year career at Merck. She joined the company in 1993 as a biologist in Vaccine Technology and Engineering. In 2020 she transitioned to Human Resources. Sherita is responsible for the strategy and prioritization of the leadership development portfolio and the team that leads the design and execution of leadership development programs. She has expanded the portfolio of affinity-based offerings and developed new programming for senior leaders in the company, of which Rise recently won two Brandon Hall Group awards. Sherita has been committed to Merck’s diversity efforts throughout her career and recently ended her term as the global leader of Merck’s League of Employees of African Descent (LEAD). She elevated the membership from less than 1000 to over 1,800 members and grew the organization from eight U.S.-based chapters to 13 chapters, including chapters in Brazil, South Africa, the UK, Ireland, and the Mid-Europe region. She is an advocate for those in need and in 2018 spent time in Senegal where she served in the 9th cohort of Merck’s Fellowship for Global Health, working to lower the rates of maternal mortality.
